This happened to me, except I was denied because of a late store credit payment. It hit my credit score and lowered it below the minimum number. My income is stable and I can afford a house, but I get denied because I forgot to mail my payment. I don't understand why they look at that in the first place. I would think they should look at income and rental history to determine if I would be responsible for a mortgage, not if I was late paying for a pair of shoes. Things like this makes me want to cut up my cards (I only have 2) and never use credit again.

What can I do now? I really want a home.

This is the sort of stimulus that is needed. The USDA is slotted to issue 20B in Grants and Loans this year alone. Lew, readers should know that the USDA opportunity goes beyond the private homes... there are great opportunities sfor entrepreneurs and developers interested in bolstering rural economies as well. Of course, like the previous reader mentions - with such little marking behind these initiatives, it is amazing anyone finds out. While you help home owners, I am in the business of delivering this news to developers, stop by my site www.businessandindustryloans.com

Thank you for posting this information. It does make the average person aware of information that usually it not out in the open for anyone to see, so whoever is trying for rural development loans id better informed so he/she can make a better, more balanced decision. In my opinion, this modified plan has a better outcome than the original one. Even though the fees are higher, the plan itself has better chances of surviving the present economy. We just need to make sure that the benefits apply to the all and it does not exclude more people in it and does not become an unattainable help because of too many hoops and red tape. Let's make sure the benefits have a far better reach and the program does not become obsolete in the process.
