My House Is for Sale, but My Agent Never Brings Buyers. Should I Get a New Agent?

My house is up for sale, my real estate agent never brings anyone to see it. Do I need to get a new agent?

Not necessarily, but it’s definitely a sign that you should take a closer look at what’s happening.

One common misconception is that a real estate agent personally brings every buyer to a property. In reality, most buyers work with their own agents, who schedule showings through the listing system. So if your agent isn’t physically bringing people to your house, that alone isn’t a reason to fire them.

The more important question is: Are buyers seeing the listing and choosing not to visit, or is the home simply not getting enough exposure?

Before replacing your agent, ask for some specifics:

  • How many online views is the listing receiving?
  • How many showing requests have come in?
  • What feedback has been provided by buyers or agents?
  • What marketing efforts are currently being used?
  • Has the price been reviewed against comparable homes in your area?

Sometimes the issue has little to do with the agent. Overpricing, poor listing photos, market conditions, limited availability for showings, or strong competition can all reduce buyer interest.

That said, if your agent is difficult to reach, provides little communication, offers no clear marketing strategy, or cannot explain why activity is low, those are legitimate concerns. A good agent should be proactive, transparent, and able to give you a clear picture of what’s happening in the market.

I would start with an honest conversation before making any decisions. Ask for data, feedback, and a concrete plan to increase exposure over the next few weeks. If the answers are vague or you feel your concerns aren’t being taken seriously, then it may be time to interview other agents.

At the end of the day, the right agent doesn’t just put a sign in the yard. They actively help you understand the market, position your home competitively, and adjust the strategy when results aren’t coming in. If that isn’t happening, exploring other options is completely reasonable.
